George Christian Petersen, Agnes Majoros, Violet and Georgia

Georg Christian Petersen was born on June 19, 1897 in Chicago. He spent his early youth with his family in Wisconsin, then in Illinois again after his father Hans' death and his mother Catherine's remarriage to Thomas Mikkelsen.

George grew up with his siblings Louis, Peter, Alfred, Marie Petersen and stepsister Florence Mikkelsen on East 36th Street, where Thomas ran a car repair business. Around 1918 George married Agnes Majoros, the sister of Annie Majoros (wife of George's older brother Louis) and moved to Eggleston Drive where he worked as a cashier for the Studebaker Corporation.

George later owned (or co-owned with his brother Clarence) his own business, a retail gasoline station called Petersen's Garage, and by 1930 the family was living on Seely Street in their own home. Their elder daughter, Violet, was born in 1919. Baby Georgia followed in the 1930s.

After George's mother Catherine Mikkelsen died in 1944 most of her children gradually relocated to other states. George and family were no exception, finding their way to Northern California, where George and Agnes ran a laundromat.

George's brothers Alva (Alfred) and Clarence resettled in Southern California. George died in 1962 in Yolo County, Agnes in 1994 in the town of Auburn in Placer County.
