Charles Schuchmann of St. Clair County, Illinois, part of our Schuchmann clan.

Charles was part of the family that branched from our clan in the 1600s. Our Schuchmanns of Charleston SC and the Illinois Schuchmanns are connected via a common ancestor, Peter Schuchmann, born in Hausen, Germany in 1604. Charles was born in 1830 in Gross Bieberau, Hesse-Darmstadt and emigrated to Illinois with his family during the 1830s. He married Maria Totch in 1853 in St. Clair County.
