Ida Sophie Hensoldt, future wife of Adam Jatho, take in Victoria, Texas

Ida Sophie Hensoldt was one of those rare (but documentable) individuals who, in 1840, was born at sea on her way to the United States. Her birth may have been recorded at port in New Orleans because her 1923 funeral card lists that city as her birthplace but "at sea" is on the census records. She married Adam Jatho in 1865 and the couple had nine children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. This may have been a portrait take to commemorate her 21st birthday.
