Margaret Burke Burrill and her husband James Burrill, Will County, Illinois

Margaret (born in Ireland) and James Burrill (born in England) lived in Will County, Illinois where they raised their family. James was a coal miner. The 1880 U.S. federal census shows that James lived next to a William Burrill, who may have been a younger brother or cousin; he was also a coal miner. This portrait shows Margaret and James in the middle years of their marriage. Their son, John Albert Burrill, married Laura Bruns in Chicago in 1911.
