Johann Georg Schuchmann was a first-generation son of Johann Georg Schuchmann and Anna Ammann, born in 1871 in Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa. Unlike our other Schuchmann ancestors his family emigrated straight to Iowa and began farming there. In 1902 Johann Georg married Ida, also a first generation daughter of Friedrich Baumgartner and Katharine Elisabethe Johanne Weege. The marriage was in St. Seebald and the couple set up their own farm in Cass Township. They had nine children.
