Louis Quin Sr. with children Arnolda, age five, and baby son Louis Jr., Charleston

Year: 1928 • Collection: Jatho

Louis Quin Senior was born in Georgia in 1892 and married Olga Jatho, daughter of Heorge and Arnolda von Oven Jatho, in Charleston, South Carolina. Louis opened and ran the Quin Press, and printing firm in town. He's pictured here with his daughter Arnolda and baby son Louis Junior, probably on the front porch of his home. Unfortunately Louis Senior died of malarial fever several months later. His widow Olga took over the running of the Quin Press and also taught at the Citadel academic academy in Charleston, raising her two children with the help of family in town.
