George Fondersmith, descended from our Vonderschmidt family, Pennsylvania

George Fondersmith (1813-1876) was part of a family of gunsmiths who whose ancestors emigrated from Hesse Darmstadt to Paradise Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. George, with his Americanized name, descends from our Vonderschmidt ancestors from Spachbrücken. This photo tentatively dated to 1858 but could be later. So far it's one of the oldest photographs that we have in our collection.
