Theodore Anton Wilhelm Melchers, husband of Helena Müller, Charleston.

Theodore Melchers, a merchant in Charleston, was born in Cloppenburg, Germany, emigrated to join the large German community in Charleston, and married the eldest daughter of Rev. Ludwig Müller and his wife Caroline Laurent. He had been a captain in the Civil War, at his death was Mayor Pro Tem of Charleston, and was described in his 1907 obituary as "full of kindness and love." He and Helena had seven children.
