This is a painting from Reinheim, Germany, which may have been generated to illustrate her engagement to Louis Schuchmann. It was brought to the United States when she emigrated in the 1840s. Louis was a haberdasher with a successful business on King Street in Charleston, South Carolina. Marie Dressel Schuckmann was an embroidery artist with several of her pieces housed in the Charleston Museum.
