Anna and Minnie were twins but didn't look much alike. Rudy was the only son in the family and lived variously with each sister, except Minnie. Minnie, who was deaf, lived with family members or at the Northern Illinois Hospital in Elgin, Illinois and worked as a dressmaker. Rudy, who never married, also lived with various sisters.
