Our connection to the Vonderschmitts is via our ancestor Johann Ludwig Schuchmann (1805-1872), who emigrated from Germany and married Anne Marie Dressel, both settling in Charleston. Johann's mother was Elisabethe Margarethe Vonderschmitt (1775-1815), and descendants included Jathos.
