How does the garden look?

Now that it's deep autumn the garden is quieting down, but there are bursts of color and bloom in out-of-the-way areas, mostly single and semi-double roses, and especially camellias - this is their prime season.

A surprising abount of work is still needed, weeding in particular, mulching, trimming old blossoms and dead branches. Rain has been sparse and there's been no cold weather to speak of so intermittent blooming is still active. Sasanqua camellias all opened at once and have put on a wonderful show. Shortly front-porch cymbidium orchids will start forming buds. Minor tasks like dividing and repotting violets have been done, and new cuttings are just starting for plectranthus and coleus.
